Boeing GPS IIF launch latest step to improving GPS

by GPS4US 2014-04-09 12:25

Hey everyone! GPS just got better!

The good people at Boeing just handed over the fifth GPS IIF satellite to the U.S. Air Force, improving
the precision of position, navigation and timing of GPS data.

So that’s good news.

The satellite launched on Feb. 20.  The launch means the Air Force – which oversees GPS – and Boeing
have completed deployment and validation of the spacecraft’s systems, stabilizing the vehicle and
activating its navigational payload.

The satellite is the fifth of 12 in the series. The sixth will happen within the next few months.

So that Garmin nuvi  you just bought might be working even better soon.
