Buffalo Bills use GPS tracking to monitor players in training camp

The Buffalo Bills are harnessing the power of GPS technology.

Taking a cue from their sporting brethren in rugby and soccer, the NFL’s Bills are monitoring their players’ individual workload during training camp by using small GPS units that fit in a pocket sewn onto the back of practice jerseys.

Among other data, the GPS units record speed, distances run and change of direction. The primary goal is to avoid injury, especially as players adjust to the rigors of NFL practice after a long offseason.
