GPS helps bring changing leaves to your screen

by GPS4US 2013-09-27 15:05

We love hearing interesting uses for GPS technology, and the Missouri Department of Conservation came up with a good one just in time for autumn.

Who doesn’t love watching the leaves on the trees change color during the fall? Well, if you’re in Missouri, you can download a free app that uses GPS to monitor the leaves as their shades turn in anticipation of winter.

You can view the leaves directly on your phone, and use the app’s share function to post photos to Facebook. Users can also upload their own photos to the app for others to see.

The free app, called Mo Fall Colors, is worth a download no matter where you are. The striking, vivid colors jump off your screen. The leaves will begin fading in late October.

Plus, if you’re an outdoor enthusiast searching for your own changing leaves, it can’t hurt to have a top-of-the-line GPS tracking device with you. Might we suggest Garmin’s Oregon 650t?
