Garmin founder donates $1 mil to KU

One of Garmin’s co-founders is giving back to the community

Min Kao, who started Garmin with Gary Burrell in 1989, recently donated $1 million to support
scholarships and programs at the University of Kansas School of Engineering, according to

Garmin is based in Olathe, Kan.

Kao donated $500,000 to create the Min H. Kao Engineering Design Studio. The other $500,000 will
establish the Garmin Excellence Scholarship in the electrical engineering and computer science
department, reported. 

In the past, Kao has donated more than $500,000 to the school.

Garmin has taken the lead in GPS technology, and constantly developing innovative products to shape
your life  on the road and on land.
