Solar flares might screw up GPS

by GPS4US 2014-06-12 10:14

Stupid sun. What is it good for?

OK, well maybe it is responsible for all life on earth. But besides that? Nothing.

Actually, the sun is cool. But it’s still kind of screwing things up in the navigation world. Cameras
this week recorded significant solar flares on the surface of the sun. The powerful bursts of radiation
could actually interfere with GPS signals, NASA says.

There could be more solar flares as NASA looks into their impact on the Earth. So we may see issues
with things like GPS, cell phones and radios.

But it’s just temporary, so everything should be back to normal soon enough. Still, the sun is totally
screwing with all of us.
