FMCSA offers GPS unit visor card for truck drivers

by GPS4US 2013-07-08 16:57
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) is offering a handy visor card to ensure truck and bus drivers and fleet owners equip themselves with a navigation system that provides optimal safety.

You can go to the FMCSA website to download the tip card, which encourages you to purchase a truck GPS unit that gives you information on bridge height and weight restrictions. Ideally, you should be able to enter your vehicle’s dimensions and hauled materials into your GPS and get the quickest legal route suitable for your ride.

“It is important to understand that not all navigation systems are the same,” the FMCSA says on its website. “That is why it is critical for truck and bus drivers to use the right navigation system when operating a commercial truck or bus. By using a navigation system that does not provide important route restrictions, such as low bridge overpass, the shortcut you thought would save you time and fuel may end up costing you more than you bargained for.”

One truck GPS that will fit your needs is the Garmin dezl 760LMT, which is designed specifically to make a trucker’s life easier. You can browse our entire line of truck and RV GPS units by clicking here.
