GPS alerts 911 to domestic violence location

by GPS4US 2013-11-06 16:25

Thanks to GPS technology, an Orange County, Fla., woman and her unborn baby are alive to see another day. A domestic violence dispute turned ugly recently, after the woman – who is six months pregnant – told her boyfriend she would not move in with him. That’s when the boyfriend – 43-year-old Frank Defulgentis – allegedly grabbed a steak knife and stabbed her up to 10 times. The victim called 911 while running out of the house, but was not capable of speaking to operators. Using the GPS technology in her phone, 911 dispatchers traced the location of the call and sent responders to check out the mysterious call. That’s when they found the victim in the driveway covered in blood. The suspect told police he wasn’t trying to kill the victim. He was arrested and appeared before a judge on Sunday. The victim and the unborn child are expected to survive. It’s a sobering reminder of the evils of the world. However, the incident underscores the benefits GPS technology can bring to our everyday lives. Without it, the victim and her baby may not be alive today, and this sad incident may have ended up much worse.
