GPS protects African elephants from poachers. Take a look!

by GPS4US 2014-02-25 10:32

We routinely hear about GPS tagging helping to save animals from poachers and hunters.

But we haven’t really seen it.

Yep, there are numerous stories about condors or mountain lions or housecats being tagged for one
reason or another. But today’s story brings it all to an amazing next level.

The video below shows a group tagging a stunned elephant with a GPS device in order to protect it from
poachers in the African nation of Chad. At first it’s unclear what’s happening, but when the elephant
regains its footing, it becomes clear that it’s equipped with a new level or protection.

The video is only 42 seconds long, so it’s definitely worth your time to take a look. And once you’re
done, head over to our showroom. We don’t offer GPS units designed for elephants, but you can
definitely get help training your hunting dog.
