GPS puma right at home on city streets

by GPS4US 2014-05-13 11:04

Time for animal GPS Zoo Watch!

We love finding stories like this, cause they show how much GPS means to tracking wildlife. So, the
latest GPS tagged critter is a young puma named 46M who has a smart collar around his neck thanks to
the good folks at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Our GPS puma was recently tracked to downtown Mountain View, Calif., in the San Francisco Bay area. He
took off two weeks earlier from the Santa Cruz Mountains.

46M has been tracked since May 6, and is one of about 15 pumas currently being tracked by GPS.

At 13 months old, 46M is just an adolescent, he seems pretty street smart. He spent two days hiding in
bushes in Mountain View, unnoticed by pedestrians and passing cars. Well, he wasn’t totally unnoticed.
The cops did show up to close off the streets.
