Garmin announces Delta Upland for sporting dogs

by GPS4US 2013-07-12 17:21
Garmin’s line of dog GPS devices and tools just keeps getting bigger and better.

The company announced Wednesday the upcoming release of the Delta Upland, a versatile system for sporting dogs that combines an electronic training collar, a BarkLimiter and a remote beeper to help users locate dogs out of their sightline.

The Delta Upland, which the company said should be available in September, comes on the heels of the DC 50 dog collar, which Garmin announced earlier this month.

The Delta Upland is a lightweight remote trainer. You can customize its correction settings – including tone, vibration and 36 levels of momentary and continuous stimulations – from as far as three quarters of a mile.

With a highly-visible LCD display, you can toggle among five training configurations and make immediate corrections based on your dog’s situation and temperament.

“The new Delta Upland is designed as a system that’s simple to use, yet has features that every upland hunter is going to need,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “The full-featured e-collar helps hunters train their dog before the season. The beeper keeps track of their dog in thick cover during the hunt. And the BarkLimiter ensures that their dog remains a good citizen after the hunt is over.”

The handheld device can control as many as three collars, and the entire system is waterproof up to one meter for up to 30 minutes.

The Delta Upland also features Tri-Tronics Upland G3 Beeper, which helps you keep track of your dogs with four hunt sounds and two point mode sounds. Meanwhile, BarkLimiter uses identification accelerometer technology to know when your dog is barking. BarkLimiter also uses Advanced Bark Correction Technology, which reduces false barking corrections caused by external noise.
