Software uses GPS tracking to fight Medicare fraud

by GPS4US 2013-06-20 16:34
GPS technology is helping fight back against Medicare fraud.

A program called VisitVerify uses GPS tracking to locate home health employees to ensure they are obtaining tablet signatures to ensure the correct visits occurred.

VistVerify was developed by Austin, Texas-based Kinnser Software to improve efficiency for home health agencies, according to the Detroit News.

The product and its GPS component allow agencies to more easily juggle a high volume of caseloads. By using GPS tracking, agencies can be sure their employees were present, tamping down on expensive Medicare fraud.

“There is just so much health care fraud out there right now,” nurse practitioner Sharon Battert told the Detroit News. “One of the most common kinds is where patients are billed for services they never receive.” But now, thanks to GPS tracking, there’s a proactive solution for that.
