iTunes Store is getting hit by TomTom updates

by diane 2010-03-17 05:14

iTunes Store fans will get new navigation app updates.
TomTom version 1.3 add two major features with live traffic data and the ability to search for local information. The local search feature supplements the app’s points of interest database and is powered by Google.

Version 1.3 also updates its maps for the latest version and adds a new music fading ability during iPod playback. It also makes day/night mode an automatic option based on sunset/sunrise times. Lastly version 1.3 allows drivers to add location from other apps or websites to easy address entry. TomTom 1.3 is free to current users.

CoPilot Live add some similar local search abilities, although doesn't specify data source. The update also features updated maps, and a new Lane Assist & ClearTurn lane assistance tool to help drivers understand which lane to be in during interchanges. 618 also adds some social networking, allowing you to update Facebook status. Status updates can include current location, destination, and current song on the iPod. Lastly drivers will be able to adjust volume settings of their music during voice directions, to mute or lower it.
