FeaturesThe Edge 510 lives up to its name: It gives you the edge in competitive cycling by giving you the most accurate and thorough data. The touchscreen Edge 510 connects to your smartphone and gives you innovative featuresน including live tracking, weather and social media sharing. No matter if youre training, touring or racing, the Edge 510 documents the details of your ride and allows you to view them later using Garmin Connect. The Edge 510 is compatible with both GPS and GLONASS satellites, improving signal lock and allowing you to more quickly acquire satellites. The 510 is perfect for any weather or terrain.
All the data you want and need Your Edge 510 is there to tell you everything about your ride. It tracks your distance, speed metrics, ascent and descent, grade and more. Push yourself and your training with ANT+ -compatible sensors that measure your heart rateฒ, speed/cadenceฒ and powerณ. Use the Activity Profiles feature to customize your data fields and settings based on your training or racing. You can use a simple finger-sweep of the touchscreen to switch your profiles, and your Edge 510 will automatically show the important data for that ride. When youre done riding, your device shows your new personal records, such as distance, ascent and more
Link up With the Edge 510, youre never out of the loop. It offers several connected features when you pair it with Garmin Connect and your iPhone or Android. You can get thorough and accurate data from a dedicated device while not killing your phones battery. The Edge will track data and send it to your device through a Bluetooth connection. You can go social, too, posting all of your ride data with your friends, family and social media contacts. You can create social media posts with your smartphone, and use the Garmin Connect Mobile interface for all the data.
Share your training With the live tracking feature, you can invite your social media contacts, friends and family to track your races and training. Once you email the invite, they can see your stats and location using the Garmin Connect tracking page.
Real-time weather Weather is among the most important variables of your ride, and with the Edge 510, youll get real-time weather conditions, forecasts and alerts for areas with coverage when you link with your smartphone and Garmin Connect Mobile.
Transfer data wirelessly Your Edge 510 allows you to instantly store, analyze and share every detail of your ride. Use the Garmin Connect Mobile app to wirelessly upload your activities from your Edge 510 as soon as youre finished. You can opt to upload activities automatically or manually, and all of your Garmin Connect connections can see what youre up to. Garmin Connect also allows you to search your courses and workouts, download them to your smartphone and send them to your Edge 510. And to push yourself to improve, you can use the courses and Virtual Partner feature to compete against your previous performances.
A powerful bike computer The Edge 510 has everything you need to improve your biking experience. Not only is it waterproof, its battery lasts up to 20 hours. You can easily operate the touchscreen even when its wet or you have gloves on. You can use the new out-front mountฒ to keep your eyes on the road or the standard quarter-turn mount. Plus, it comes with a tether so your device wont go flying if you crash.
Existing Edge owners can enjoy these additional features by performing a free software update through Garmin Express:
CYCLING DYNAMICS The
Edge 1000, 810 and 510 now display the first phase of new cycling
dynamics when paired with a dual-sensing VectorTM power meter system
(sold separately). Cycling dynamics will be included in Garmin ConnectTM
for post ride analysis. Cycling dynamics metrics measure where the
power is being applied throughout the pedal stroke, and where on the
pedal it is being applied, allowing the cyclist to understand their
particular way of riding. The seated / standing metric will then follow
early in 2015.
SHIMANO Di2 INTEGRATION Like the Edge
1000, the Edge 810 / 510 now integrate with Shimano Di2 electronic
shifting systems to display your current gear on the screen. Weve also
expanded the integration capabilities for those Edge users using
compatible Shimano Dura Ace Di2 systems, by allowing them to directly
control their Edge from the small buttons inside the brake hoods. These
will work in the same way as the Edge Remote.
SEGMENTS Like
the Edge 1000, the Edge 810 / 510 now include segments. Cyclists can
turn every ride into a race by competing on Garmin Connect segments and
seeing real-time results, including alerts for segment start and finish
and leaderboard rankings.
LANDSCAPE/PORTRAIT MODE The Edge 1000 now offers landscape mode, allowing cyclists to view ride data in whatever format they prefer.
EDGE REMOTE INTEGRATION Like
with the Edge 1000, you can now control your Edge 810 / 510 cycling
computer without removing your hands from the handlebar. The 3-button
Edge remote uses ANT+ฎ wireless connectivity to mark laps and scroll
through pages. You can even program the third button from a preset list
of functions.
