FeaturesIt’s revolutionary and innovative and it’ll help your cycling performance. There’s a lot to love about the Garmin Edge 800, the first touchscreen GPS bike computer. It’s all about navigation and monitoring your performance, and it’s ideal for touring, commuting, competing and mountain biking. The Edge 800 is one of the top GPS units on the market, and comes with a built-in basemap. It tracks your speed, distance, location, ascent and descent. You can use it with an ANT+ heart rate monitor¹, speed/cadence sensor¹ or compatible power meter² to perfectly analyze your training.
A perfect design
The Edge 800 is tough enough to stand up to Mother Nature, but simple enough to respond to your touch, even in gloves. It just takes a tap to switch training pages or pan and zoom the map. And its vivid, sunlight-readable display means you’ll have no problem seeing your data, no matter how brightly the sun shines. Plus, the Edge 800 is waterproof to IPX7 standards and can endure knocks and scrapes, even if you’re mountain biking. It’s aerodynamic and has a carbon fiber look with either blue or white accents. Plus, it goes everywhere your bike goes with the low-profile mount. The quarter-turn mount design not only secures your Edge 800, it allows you to use removable, reusable bands to swap it between bikes.
Know where you’re going
The Edge 800’s maps give you a better experience, period. It comes with a built-in basemap that covers major roads and cities, and it’s compatible with Garmin’s microSD cards loaded with either street¹ or topo maps³. All you need to do is select your destination and turn-by-turn directions come alive on your screen. The Edge 800 also has a social navigation component. It can guide you on routes recorded by other cyclists through the free website Garmin Connect. You can choose from millions of routes uploaded by your fellow bike enthusiasts. Follow the course with navigation and prompts, and try your best to beat the previous marks set by Garmin Connect users. You can also create a route, view changes in elevation and gather other data with Garmin’s free basecamp software. And, of course, the Edge 800 uses a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that is always locked on, even under heavy cover. Your receiver uses HotFix satellite prediction to quickly and accurately calculate your position and adjust your time zone.
All the data you want and need
The Edge 800 tracks loads of data while you ride, and allows you three customized training pages so you can see and analyze as much as you want. Plus, its barometric altimeter gives you precise climb and descent data and records temperature changes. Performance cyclists, listen up! You can link the Edge 800 with a third-party ANT+-enabled power meter to show your power output in watts while you cycle. You’ll get important data that shows how hard you’re working, regardless of outside influences. Some Edge 800 models come with a heart monitor and a speed/cadence monitor.
Know your body
The Edge 800 can combine with the Tanita BC-1000 body composition scale to track your weight, body fat, body water and six other measurements. After the Edge 800 stores the readings, it automatically sends them to Garmin Connect once you’re in range of your computer.
The perfect training tool
If you need a little more motivation, you can always get competitive with the Virtual Partner, a digital depiction of your goal speed vs. your real-time speed. The Edge 800 also offers detailed workout planning, Auto Pause, Auto Lap and Courses, which compares your performance against past rides on the same route.
Analyze and dissect
The Edge 800 allows you to pick apart your ride to the tiniest detail. Just use a USB cable to upload your data from your PC or MAC to Garmin Connect, a free website for sharing and data analysis. You’ll see your route plotted on a map, and a summary of your ride and goals. And, you can share any information you want with others.

Product ReviewsFollowing reviews were written by actual customers. Every GPS4US customer has a chance to live a feedback after receiving a product. by Richard N, , 4/11/2021 The device arrived with the text in a foreign language. It took me a long time to figure out how to convert it to English. Once I did that, I was able to set it up. by C B, , 4/7/2021 No bluetooth like the 810 makes it very difficult to update! by Will L, , 2/12/2021 Most everything about the reconditioned Garmin 800 is great - especially the price and near new condition! One issue is the rubber cover on the plug won''t stay closed. Annoying! by Ben M, , 6/16/2020 No longer supported by Garmin Connect! Refurb item, came without all its parts. With Connect, this item is useless. by Pete H, , 2/19/2020 Absolutely love it by Kaylan G, , 4/22/2018 It looks like it was never used. This is a well performing product! by Lexa R, , 3/25/2018 I am very satisfied with this GPS computer. Now I don''t have to worry about my locations and the battery life on this unit last for days! Very happy to have purchased it. by Rodrick B, , 8/29/2017 So far so good. Garmin works as advertised. Best Garmin so fat! by Galin P, , 3/28/2014 a very helpful device by Galin P, , 3/26/2014 very good by Simen S, , 3/27/2013 The product arrived in perfect condition. The product was advertised as "refurbished" and I was positively surprised about receiving a seemingly unused device, in a sealed plastic bag, with protective screen cover all contained in the original Garmin cardboard box.
I''ve now used this on 10+ rides, uploaded maps, hooked up external ANT+ equipment and uploaded rides to Garmin Connect/Strava and have so far had no problems with the device. Recommended!
