These collars do seem to malfunction often. I have purchased two replacements for my two dogs in less than two years, with one collar dying after 4 years (acceptable) and the other after 1.5 years (unacceptable). The former was due to a wiring issue; the latter stopped connecting to satellites. I tried everything I could find online as a remedy, but to no avail. I get the sense that, like most things, the collars are designed to fail after x length of time.
