Features
The lightweight Garmin Edge 205 is easy-to-use and helps you get the most out of your bicycle. All you need to do to get started is attach the Edge 205 to your bike’s stem or handlebars with the included bike mount, turn it on, acquire GPS satellites and start peddling. It really is that easy to amp up your routine. The Edge 205 automatically measures your speed, distance, time, calories burned and altitude, and it records your data for later review. If you need even more data, check out the Edge 305, which also measures your heart rate, cadence, climb and descent.
And there’s more
The Edge 205’s high-sensitivity GPS receiver can quickly and accurately find your location no matter your surrounding terrain. Its Virtual Partner feature allows you to race a virtual competitor. The Courses feature allows you to race against yourself, using a previous workout to motivate you to beat your past performance. Auto Pause stops the timer when you slow or stop, and restarts it when you move again. And Auto Lap begins a new lap timer once you pass a specified distance or location.
The data you need
The Edge 205 allows you to plan, analyze and store data from your rides using free Garmin Training Center software. You’ll get interactive graphs that chart your speed, time and elevation. You can also overlay your track on a map to highlight certain areas and compare elevation and performance. You can also use , Garmin’s web-based app that will analyze your workout with depth and precision, allow you to share routes and examine online maps. If you’re training for endurance, the Edge 205 works with TrainingPeaks.com, a web-based training system that will push your performance to the next level, regardless of the event you’re training for.
